Knowledge Transfer and Migration Plan
Developed a knowledge transfer plan for a large insurance firm designed to bring their existing staff up to date on the latest web-based technologies. My efforts were instrumental in turning around a delicate contract problem. Also supplied planning services for establishing a national help desk.
This was an especially difficult and challenging project. I was approached with an urgent need by a contracting firm I had worked with several times. They needed someone with mainframe, PC and Web knowledge to replace a contractor who had walked off the job as the project was nearing completion.
Only after I arrived and was being asked some curious questions did I find out that I was replacing an internationally acclaimed expert in the field. A published author who had made several presentations at conferences across the globe. Needless to say, I had a steep learning curve to catch up with my predecessor. In addition to a four hour “commute.”
Despite all the cards stacked against me, I did what it took to successfully complete the task and got a nice little bonus from the firm for an outstanding job.
Stock Charting System
Developed for a prominent mutual fund company in Kansas City, this mainframe-based system tracked a portfolio of stocks on a daily basis. Utilizing a variety of IBM graphics packages (GDDM, PGF, ICU, VSE), current and historical information were graphed and incorporated into a concise report.
Quality Control Systems
These products were developed for the television division of General Electric. Services were rendered in Virginia and New York. One system was mainframe based and the other microcomputer based. Together, these systems worked to significantly improve the quality of products produced while at the same time minimizing the amount of human involvement.

Hospital Database Conversion
Designed and developed a series of ETL programs and accompanying JCL to convert historical and current patient records from existing Honeywell IDS database system to IBM Hospital Management System using IDMS.
The entire project took nearly a year. My role involved leading the Data Mapping efforts between all tables/fields related to Patient Census and Patient Accounting. In addition, I created or redesigned about 20 reports on the IBM side to corresponding to existing report formats on the Honeywell side.
